BRATISLAVA

Its unique history, attractive sights, rich cultural life, excellent local gastronomy, quality wines and modern shopping centers make Bratislava an ideal city-break destination.

Bratislava is open and hospitable but without the pitfalls of many other big cities. Everything is close and within easy reach. One minute you can enjoy the view of the majestic Cathedral. The next, you can sample traditional or contemporary cuisine, followed by a freshly brewed espresso in one of numerous cafés in picturesque narrow streets and squares. The ancient wine cellars, scattered across the city centre, offer wine tasting with a difference.

Bratislava Castle: The castle, on a hill above the old town, dominates the city of Bratislava. Enjoy also a beautiful baroque garden and beautiful views over the city.

Slovak National Theatre: Bratislava's opera house, known officially as the historical building of the Slovak National Theatre, is a Neo-Renaissance-style building opened in 1886 as the City Theatre, according to the design of Viennese architects F. Fellner and H. Helmer.

Old Town Hall: The history of the Old Town Hall dates back to the beginnings of the mediaeval town in the 13th century.

Bridge SNP or the UFO Bridge was built in 1967-1972 and was given the label of the most characteristic construction of the city. The special attraction is the flying saucer-shaped structure atop the bridge's 84m pylon, housing an observation deck and a restaurant, which since 2005 has been called UFO.

Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum: Gallery of modern and contemporary Slovak and international art at a peninsula surrounded by Danube.
